Why a Spitfire GLIDE-ON ... SLIDE-OFF Boat trailer

Most boat trailers sold in Australia today are a hangover design from the 1970s.

The advantages of a Spitfire GLIDE-ON trailer are:

* No  keel roller brackets to damage your hull.

* Easier to drive on.

* Lower centre of gravity when under tow.

* Lower maintenance.

* Lower cost.

* A Lighter Trailer.

Slide-Off

Check out this video.... See how easily the  keel of this heavy Haines Hunter slides off the HDUVPE cross members with a gentle tug on the rope.. With a Spitfire trailer you don't need to add the expense of centre keel rollers or roller ladders.

Notice also the side rollers or bunks have very little weight on them and loose contact with the boat  as it begins to  slide down into the water.
Spitfire Trailers are designed based on 50 years of real practical boating... not on 50 years of copying other makers.

Today most boast ramps allow boat owners to drive on to their trailer.

The lack of keel rollers, or roller ladders means you have nothing to damage your hull.

When the power is completely cut off, the boat gently slips away on its own.

Notice that after driving on, by maintaining a little  power, this holds the boat on the trailer, so in one man situation, you can connect the winch and tie off the front.

 Life is complicated enough....Don't make your boating  complicated.

Bunks can be changed to Spitfire side rollers.
However on a correctly set up trailer, each roller is only carrying  an average of 36 - 54 kg.

Also keep in mind that the footprint of 36 - 54 kg weight  on a roller is supported on only a few square centimetres compared to a set of bunks which can offer 1,000 sq cm of support per bunk.
So consideration needs too be made as to weight, road conditions i

Again, nothing to scratch your hull.

Any configuration. is available to suit your vessel and your local conditions
